Abstract

The Textile Industry is characterized by a complex production network that spans many businesses and often crosses international boundaries. It has become an essential commodity in daily life, comparable to food and water. The diverse production in the textile field extends across various sectors, including apparel, industrial fabrics, protective textiles, composite textiles, medical textiles, automotive, aerospace, and many others. Presently, the product range has expanded worldwide, reaching various corners of the globe rather than remaining confined to a particular area.

Sales in the textile industry are highly volatile and seasonal, necessitating robust capacity planning, production scheduling, process control, and inventory management to ensure profitability. An integrated solution encompassing stock balancing, inventory management, production planning, and distribution scheduling is crucial. Thus, a well-structured supply chain management system is vital for organizing all aspects of the textile industry.

Efficient flow of information between business partners, producers, distributors, and retailers, along with optimized inventory management and demand-supply balance, is essential for effective supply chain management.

This paper aims to emphasize the various modes of supply chain management, the advantages and disadvantages of each system, and the critical role of Supply Chain Management as an integrated component in the textile business.

It primarily focuses on the technical and practical aspects of day-to-day business management and its impact on the profitability of the industries.
