Planning to attend a wedding and it's quite a distance away? Need to travel to your parent's anniversary party? Is your school reunion in some other part of the country? While there are new restrictions on air travel, jewelry is currently not one of the items banned from your carry on.

Now that you've made up your mind to attend that special occasion, just how will you take your jewelry along for the trip? It's preferable to always pack your jewelry in your purse or carry on bag. Only pins are restricted from your carry on bag. You can pack as many necklaces, earring, watches, rings and bracelets as you like.

There are many ways to pack your jewelry that will insure their arrival in a perfect state. Of course you cannot take your large jewelry chest that sits on your dresser. However, there's a large choice of jewelry holders available designed especially for travel. If you bring along mostly earring or rings there are jewelry rounds or "puffs" made in a huge array of fabrics including Ultrasuede. These are drawstring pouches that have pockets around the perimeter that keep your earrings and rings from tangling or rubbing against each other. They're lightweight and can easily fit in a handbag or purse.

Designed for the jewelry aficionados, there are jewel rolls available in many elegant fabrics as well as suede and leather. They come in a wide range of sizes and will hold every type of jewelry. Besides the small pockets for rings and earrings, jewel rolls have large zippered compartments for watches and bracelets. Many of them have a deep pocket in the back for larger items. There are models equipped with loops to hold necklaces and keep the chains from twisting. Some have clear compartments so you can view where everything is located and some are available double sided, so they can be packed on both sides. Jewel rolls can be placed on a hanger and hung in the closet or rolled up for ease in placing them in a safety deposit box or hotel lock box.

Many hotel rooms now come equipped with small safes in the individual rooms. Because of the popularity of these hotel safes, a new type of travel jewel case has emerged. It is a small flat hard case, covered in fabric, suede or leather, and it fits easily inside these hotel safes. Some even have a clear cover, so you can see inside. The jewel cases have multiple compartments and also protect the jewelry against harm because of their hard outside container.

Men have not been overlooked in the travel jewelry case department. There are leather watch cases that are perfect for carrying one or two extra watches. Jewel rolls for men are also available in black or brown leathers and will hold a few rings and cuff links, a tie tack or tie bar and a few chains and watches.

With the large selection of travel jewel cases available, there's no reason not to sparkle when you travel.
