We plan to explore European and American markets
Located in Anyang, Henan, a new industrial town in northern China, Henan Lucen Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd. is engaged in the research, production and sales of new textile materials. Located adjacent to Qingdao and Tianjin ports, the company has favourable location, convenient transportation and perfect infrastructure. In an interview with Fibre2Fashion, Henan Lucen CEO Zhao Shijia talks about polyester yarn and the Chinese textile industry.

How would you describe the market for polyester yarn? What is the demand for yarns in China?

The polyester yarn market is full of opportunities and challenges. Enterprises that catch up with the pace of the development of the market will survive. Chinese yarns demand is for more products with competitive price and good quality. So, for further development, we need new technology that increases efficiency.
 

How has the geopolitical and supply chain crisis affected the demand?

Geopolitical and supply chain crisis has impeded the development of foreign trade, as foreign trade activities in the impacted area of part of it has stopped. This will reduce a lot of the demand for yarn, because the shipping costs rise, and it would become impossible to get customs clearance.

What is your annual production capacity?

Our annual production capacity is 75,000 tons.

Which are your major markets? Which new ones do you plan to explore?

Our major markets are south and southeast Asian countries like India and Thailand. We plan to explore European and American markets.

Related policies, shipping, demand and supply.

Has the weakened cotton market resulted in a surge in demand for polyester yarn in China too?

No. The demand of yarns as a whole is weak, so is the demand for polyester yarn.

What kinds of factors are affecting the Chinese textile industry at the moment?

The prices of textile raw materials, and changes in the application structure of textile products are affecting the Chinese textile industry. Labour costs in China's textile industry have risen significantly, which is also affecting our industry.

What new innovations and technologies do you plan to invest in?

We plan to invest in application of intelligent manufacturing technologies, as well as digital empowerment.

What has been your growth story for the last two years? What are the expectations for 2024?

For the last two years, our focus was on surviving the COVID-19 impact and develop our foreign trade business. The expectations for 2024 is to expand our company.

What are your plans for the next 2-3 years?

We have plans to upgrade our production team and R&D team, help our foreign trade department to get more orders, and form a more complete system of the company.
