What trends are likely to rule the apparel market?

The apparel industry is truly moving forward with innovative and activewear, which are going to be in vogue and going to change the way apparel industry has approached marketing and promotion of its products. Changing lifestyle, increased spending habits of youngsters, influence through popular media and peer groups are encouraging people to go for adventure and extreme sports. On the other hand, changed working conditions across different industries have also impacted the choice of activewear. Now activewear is not just some functional apparel, but they are also a style statement and a fashionable choice. Industry players have to tap this trend to lead the way.

What is the percentage pie of the market that you claim for yourself?

The market share we own currently is 20-25 per cent in branded quilt thermals.

Which are the countries that you export to? Which new markets look promising?

Currently none. But, we are expanding our business in SAARC nations and in the near future, we are getting into EU and US as well.

What is the percentage profit allocated for R&D?

Strategic alignment and a culture that supports innovation are very important. As an apparel maker, we believe in innovation, and invest around two per cent in our research and development.

Any near-future investment plans?

Most of our investments are in heavy machinery and infrastructure. With changing times, we are moving into providing exclusive retail categories and unique customer experiences.

What are your plans for the e-commerce and m-commerce space?

Online shopping has improved the cost structure and operations machinery of the apparel industry significantly. No doubt, we are trying to be the best in online space as well. Currently, we have our own online shopping portal and we are also associated with many other e-commerce sites. Mobile-commerce is among one of the fastest growing industries. And to increase our visibility, we are coming up with our app also, to bring our products just a touch away from our customers.
