Your group has been investing in many upstream and diverse fields allied to textiles. What keeps it from forward integration like garmenting?

We have no immediate plans to invest in Garment/Apparel manufacturing now. However, depending upon finding some good international partner together with resolution of the power crises in the country, we may look into this proposition.

How awakened is Saif Group’s conscience towards society?

Saif Group has always kept philanthropic activities on its priority list. We are dedicated to serve society directly or indirectly. Saifullah Foundation for Sustainable Development was established as an independent non-political, non-profit NGO. We have established following specialized institutions with specific objectives, funded by personal donation of the family members and monthly contributions from the group companies:
  • Akbar Kare Institute (AKI)
  • Serai Naurang Computer Center (SNCC)
  • Women & Children Hospital (WCH)
  • Agriculture and Research
Apart from this, we also feel greater responsibility towards environment as well. Saif Group, through Lahore Compost (Pvt.) Ltd., has set up its first composting plant at Lahore under an agreement with the City District Government Lahore (CDGL). The project has been set up on Build, Operate, Transfer basis, whereby the project will be transferred to CDGL after a period of 25 years. This is the first public private project in Pakistan on such a large scale in the area of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) recycling. The company is also registered as a CDM project with UNFCCC.

Thank you for your time and consideration Mr. Khan. It was a pleasure talking to you.

You are welcome.
