Established in year 2000, by investor company Hebei Jigao Chemical Fibre, Shanghai Tenbro is the oldest bamboo fibre manufacturer and supplier in mainland China. With headquarters in Shanghai, the company is the patent holder of bamboo fibre accredited by State Intellectual Property Bureau. The Group owns production lines with the most advanced machines system, and has a stable production capacity of 30000tons/year bamboo fiber and 50,000 ton/year bamboo pulp. The Group exports over 90% of its production to Asia, Europe and America. Mr Ganggang Yu is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Shanghai Tenbro Bamboo Textile Co ltd. He started working in industry of cellulose fiber 15 years ago. He is also the one of earliest persons engaged in development of TENCEL and MODAL fabrics. In an Interview with Face2Face Correspondent and Editor Ms Madhu Soni, Mr Ganggang Yu delves out more about bamboo fibre market in China.
Mr Yu, please tell us about the happenings that you see in this sector of your expertise?
During the year 2000 to 2009, the sales volume has greatly increased from 200tons/year to 23000tons/year. With bamboo fiber as the core new material, we have established bamboo industry alliance, which has grown registering more than 50 members.
The development of bamboo industry is closely linked to agricultural, commercial and new energy industries. TENBRO bamboo fiber as a new industry has created a new healthy development mode, which is beyond the matured traditional industry mode.
The establishment of Bamboo industry alliance ensures the traceability of the supply chain, supply chain and downstream business partnerships, and thus obtaining the trust of consumers to win greater value.
So, what is current world market size of natural fibres, and destiny of bamboo fibre in China?
Viewing previous years 2004 to 2009 sales volume increasing rate, we see that this increase will keep on in the following year 2010 to 2013 also. TENBRO Industry Alliance has annual contribution of 200 billion to GDP, and it creates employment for nearly 100,000 workers in bamboo fiber sector in China.
Bamboo Industry Alliance pulls in the income for the agriculture sector as well as income for farmers simultaneously also benefiting the textile industry. Enterprises enhance their competitiveness, and are able to promote business. The establishing of bamboo industry alliance has a significant social value.
