ZSK Stickmaschinen GmbH is a leading supplier of industrial embroidery machines all over the world. In an interview with Fibre2Fashion, Frank Giessmann, the ZSK sales director - Asia talks about the market for their machines, their competitors, and the technologies employed by them for quality.
How big is the market that constitutes machinery manufacturers for the textile industry in Germany?
The market for the 'textile industry’, meaning production of garments or textiles itself, is quite small. But for our machines, the market for 'textile finishing’ – in respect of promotion textiles, home textiles and workwear textiles is immense and still growing.
Which other European country or countries is your biggest competitor?
We are the only manufacturers of industrial embroidery machines in Europe, so there is no competition for us. Our main competition is from Japan, but now they mainly manufacture their parts in China.
How has the demand for textiles machinery been in the last two years?
The demand for textiles machinery has been steadily increasing since the last two years, but again, quality matters more and more.
From which geographies has the demand been the most?
The demand has been the most from Europe, but Asian demand is also picking up. A weak Euro now helps us to re-enter the US market.
Is there any technology in the works that could replicate the finesse of hand work?
Our embroidery machines are now capable of embroidery with very thick threads. This is similar to what people have done in the past, but was done only with hand.
What is the type of after-sales service that you provide?
Our after-sales service is typical German. It is accurate, punctual and handled by very well-trained engineers worldwide. On top of it, we also provide online seminars, accompanied with tutorial videos and much more.
