Our commitment to excellence shines through in every stitch
Nero, inspired by the Sanskrit word ‘neer’ for water, represents the epitome of fluidity, purity, and versatility in fashion. Embracing the artistry of traditional handblock printing and embroidery, Nero Fashion stands as a beacon of authentic clothing and sustainable practices, inspired by the inherent beauty of nature. In a conversation with Fibre2Fashion, Spokesperson Rishika Jain discusses design, sustainability etc at the fashion brand.

What inspired the creation of Nero Fashion, and how does it reflect the essence of water?

The creation of Nero Fashion was inspired by my deep reverence for the essence of water, known as ‘neer’ in Sanskrit. Like water, which flows gracefully, our brand embodies fluidity and purity. We aim to reflect water’s serene beauty and timeless allure, capturing its essence in every garment through our designs. Whether it is the gentle flow of fabric or the tranquil hues of our collections, water serves as our guiding inspiration, infusing a sense of calmness and purity into our creations.

Could you share about the traditional handblock printing and embroidery techniques used in crafting Nero’s garments?

Traditional handblock printing and embroidery techniques are at the heart of Nero’s craftsmanship. We take pride in reviving age-old artisanal methods, passed down through generations, and infusing them with modern aesthetics. Each garment is meticulously crafted using handblock techniques with solid panels, that create mesmerising contrasts and captivates the eye with its visual allure adding a unique touch of heritage and authenticity. The intricate zari embroidery imparts an air of opulence and sophistication to each garment, transforming it into a true work of art. Our dedication to preserving these traditions ensures that every Nero piece showcases exquisite craftsmanship while honouring India’s rich cultural heritage.

Can you share some insights into the significance of the motifs used in your designs, particularly those inspired by nature?

The motifs featured in our designs are inspired by nature, serving as a tribute to the beauty surrounding us. Each design carries a deeper significance, representing the harmony between humanity and the natural world, from intricate floral patterns to vibrant-hued motifs. Through these motifs, we seek to evoke a sense of connection with nature, reminding wearers of the beauty and wonder that abound in the world around us.

How do you balance the traditional elements of Indian culture with modern fashion trends in your collections?

At Nero, we believe in seamlessly blending the traditional elements of Indian culture with modern fashion trends. Each collection is a harmonious fusion of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary design, catering to the evolving tastes of our clientele. Whether it is through innovative silhouettes, updated colour palettes, or modern styling, we strive to ensure that our garments remain relevant while honouring our rich cultural heritage. We focus on upgrading our collections with unique aspects, making our ensembles approachable and likable by all.

What steps do you take to promote eco-consciousness within the fashion industry?

Sustainability is at the core of Nero’s ethos, and we are committed to promoting eco-consciousness within the fashion industry. From sourcing eco-friendly fabrics to implementing ethical production practices, we take proactive steps to minimise our environmental impact. Through initiatives such as upcycling, waste reduction, and community engagement, we strive to lead by example and inspire positive change within the fashion industry.

Tell us about the process of creating a new collection. What are the key elements you consider during the design phase?

Creating a new collection begins with a deep exploration of themes, inspirations, and cultural motifs. Our design team meticulously researches and conceptualises each collection, drawing inspiration from diverse sources ranging from art and architecture to nature and folklore. Key elements such as fabric selection, colour palette, and silhouette are carefully considered to ensure that each piece reflects our brand’s signature aesthetic while offering something fresh and innovative to our clientele.

What role does individuality play in your approach to fashion, and how do your designs encourage wearers to embrace their unique style?

Individuality lies at the heart of Nero’s approach to fashion. The style reflects one’s unique personality and perspective, and we affirm it. Through our designs, we strive to empower wearers to embrace their individuality and express themselves authentically. Whether through customisable pieces, versatile styling options, or inclusive sizing, we aim to celebrate diversity and encourage wearers to confidently embrace their unique sense of style.
