How is the market of luxury garments in India compared to that of Dubai and what is the current market scenario of menswear segment in India?

Yes, luxury apparel markets of India and Dubai are quite different. The locals of Dubai who are my clients, they like more of jam and in Delhi Luxury means more of cut Definition of luxury in India is changing. So both the markets are quite different.

Indian floor length kalidaars and jackets are a hit all around the world. Jardosi and resham embroideries is taking over the international market. We see a lot of work from India on the redcarpet. Celebs like Angelina Jolie and Rihanna wear a lot of Indian embellishments.

Menswear market is growing and becoming better because today's metro sexual men have become very conscious and they really know what they want. Men have gone out and today menswear has become a serious subject. There is a lot of growth in this segment. I have started doing menswear and we really enjoy doing it because we have got an interesting clientele.

Menswear is a very big market but there are not so many designers into this segment. Here one needs to know what one exactly wants to make. We are very minimalistic in our men's collection and for us someone who really wants a lot of embroidery and depth doesn't work. There is a lot of space in the Indian market for luxury menswear. I can say this because Indian men are buying Tom Ford, Hugo Boss, Mayyur Girotra and other such premium brands. These days it makes no difference whether it's Tom Ford, Hugo Boss or Mayyur Girotra. Customers just want perfect finish and the right fit.
