YKK has introduced a new concept of Ultra Light Zipper during the recently concluded ISPO Munich 2012, held in Germany.
The new product has been developed to cater to the present trend of lightweight sports and outdoor garments. The new product does not have any 'teeth', and it does not require any sewing like normal zippers.
The new zipper chain can be directly fixed on a wide breathable membrane fabric, due to which weight of the entire garment reduces.
In addition, the new product is highly flexible and packable.
According to YKK, the new innovation would be made available in a three layer membrane with a width of up to 180 mm, which would make it possible to use the Ultra Light Zipper as a close-end fastening solution, as a half front-zipper, pit ventilation and for pockets.
The new innovation is being looked upon as a revolutionary performance fastener product that provides the supreme experience, particularly in a world where product performance can afford the winning or losing edge.
As stated by the company, they were working for developing the light weight zipper to satisfy the long standing demand of their customers, who are happy with the apparels that they have developed so far using the Ultra Light Zipper, developed by Mammut and Millet.
The firm said it intends to soon launch the product in the market and it would carry on with its quest to develop more such solutions using the Ultra Light Zipper in future.
