Berjaya Retail : to expand Motivi,Caractere,Oxbow fashion apparel

BERJAYA Retail Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Berjaya Group came into existence this year has long term plans to expand and consolidate branded fashion apparel like Motivi and Caractere brands from Italy and Oxbow from France.

Berjaya Capital Bhd Executive Director Francis Lee stated that the company has always been involved in the consumer business, as such the fashion apparel retail segment was a natural extension.

He also informed that major shopping centers in the Klang Valley were fully occupied and so, they would have to wait until there was a vacancy.

A Revenue of RM1.8 million to RM2 million is expected during the first year of operations. Lee expects to post a 25 to 30 per cent growth in revenue next year. BRetail will become a significant contributor to the group's revenue in five years.

He said that they would spend on advertising and open new stores in major shopping centers in Klang Valley. This would help Motivi, Caractere and Oxbow to become household names within five years from now.

The distribution right of Motivi, Caractere and Oxbow in South-East Asia is held by BRetail. It plans to open stores within two years in Singapore and Bangkok, after opening around 12 stores in Malaysia.

BRetail General Manager Edwin Saw informed the launch of two new international fashion brands by next year.

He also stated that they were looking to distribute other fashion retail brands, which made sense to their existing apparel lines and hoped to introduce one fashion accessories brand next year, but declined to elaborate.
