BGMEA, Chinese delegation discuss investment opportunities

A high-level delegation representing leading Chinese apparel and textile enterprises met with leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently.

This is as per media reports, which added, spearheaded by Xie Qing, executive vice President of the China National Garment Association (CNGA), the delegation engaged with BGMEA president SM Mannan (Kochi) alongside notable figures including BGMEA senior vice president Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, vice president Arshad Jamal (Dipu), vice president (Finance) Md. Nasir Uddin, vice president Abdullah Hil Rakib, and directors Md. Imranur Rahman and Md. Nurul Islam.

The meeting, hosted at the BGMEA Complex in capital Dhaka, was held to explore avenues for bolstering bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and China even as both sides delved into discussions, exchanging insights on industry trends, and envisaging potential areas of collaboration for mutual benefit.

The discourse gravitated towards potential joint ventures, investment prospects, and strategic partnerships aimed at fortifying competitiveness and fostering sustainable growth within the apparel and textile sector.

The delegation evinced a keen interest in nurturing alliances with Bangladeshi counterparts to leverage mutual strengths, drive innovation, and champion sustainability in the apparel industry.

Throughout the meeting, BGMEA leaders elucidated Bangladesh’s garment industry landscape, spotlighting its robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and favourable business environment.

Emphasising Bangladesh’s commitment to sustainable practices and ethical manufacturing aligned with global standards, they underscored the burgeoning demand for manmade fibre-based fabrics within the country’s garment industry.

The BGMEA leaders advocated for Chinese investment in burgeoning sectors like textile machinery, MMF and technical textiles, and the recycling industry.

They highlighted the significance of knowledge exchange and the dissemination of best practices to bolster the advancement of Bangladeshi garment factories.
