CMAI foresee vertical growth in readymade garment sector

As per the statement of Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), the readymade garment sector is likely to gain major boost by at least 25 per cent within the coming few years.
CMAI stated that the South India is anticipated to roll out as a major player in the India's garment sector.
CMAI Joint Secretary, Rajesh Masand informed that the sector stands second largest foreign exchange earner for the country after agriculture.
Masand explained that garment making centres like Chennai, Tirupur, Bangalore and Hyderabad had emerged as leading contributors to the readymade garment industry, which accounts nearly Rs 4,000 crore in the exports, with employing around three lakh peoples.
Leading Global and national brands were setting up offices, manufacturing units and marketing facilities in the South region to keep pace with the rapid expansion of the sector, Masand added.
