To be eligible for the 2009 award, students must be studying for a recognised clothing-industry related honours degree or similar qualification at an ASBCI-member university or college. A dissertation submission must be an original, well-presented 10,000 word fully referenced project showing depth and breadth of research with relevance, topicality and value to the industry.
The annual student dissertation award is run by the ASBCI's student membership committee. The committee was established to give students working towards design, technical and laboratory testing, textile design, retail business and many other related qualifications a greater practical and commercial understanding of the fashion industry.
In addition to student seminars and conferences students receive a special introductory pack with a full ASBCI member contact listing, two annual bulletins and discounted prices on further ASBCI technical manuals. Students also gain crucial access to relevant work placements and technical visits to key industry sites for just £35 membership per annum.
