The new FCs will double the storage capacity of Amazon India as compared to last year, Akhil Saxena, customer fulfilment vice president of Amazon India, told a news agency. He said that the company is investing to strengthen its infrastructure to match its pace of business expansion in the country.
Amazon will open 14 FCs in India by the end of this year, added Saxena. These new centres will come up in Haryana, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
In a bid to fulfil increasing seller and customer demands, Amazon will also expand the capacity of its existing FCs in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
The addition of new FCs is expected to increase Amazon's delivery speed and enable SMBs to cost-effectively fulfil their orders, concluded Saxena. (KD)
