Bangladesh requests India to withdraw anti-dumping duty

1 min read

Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi recently requested his Indian counterpart Suresh Prabhu to take suitable measures to withdraw anti-dumping duty on Bangladeshi products. Both met on the sidelines of the two-day WTO Ministerial Meeting in New Delhi. Munshi pushed for more apparel import to India from and more Indian investment in Bangladesh.

Prabhu assured all necessary measures to address the issue, according to a Bangladesh media reported citing a commerce ministry press release.

Despite a general duty-free access of Bangladeshi products to India, several Indian states often impose taxes if the volume of imported products appears to affect their local enterprises. (DS)
