Cambodia's apparel exports to Europe amounted to $733.268 million, which accounted for 35.49 per cent of its total shipments from January to March 2023. The share of exports to North America was 32.16 per cent, with shipments valued at $664.494 million during the same period. The outbound shipments to the Asia-Pacific region were valued at $570.343 million, representing a 27.60 per cent share of the total. These three markets accounted for more than 94 per cent of the total exports, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro. The Middle East, Central & South America, and Africa were minor markets for Cambodia's apparel.
Cambodia’s shipments to Europe declined by 36.62 per cent in the first quarter of the current year, compared to shipments worth $1.156 billion during January-March 2022. In the first quarter of 2021, exports were valued at $913.455 million. Shipments to North America, including the United States, dropped by 51.35 per cent to $664.494 million in the first quarter of the current year. Trade was recorded at $1.365 billion in Q1 2022 and $1.101 billion in Q1 2021, as per TexPro.
Among the three largest markets for Cambodia's apparel exports, the Asia-Pacific region witnessed the mildest decline. Shipments decreased by 6.32 per cent to $570.343 million in the first quarter of this year, compared to $608.816 million in Q1 2022 and $601.196 million in Q1 2021.
Cambodia's total apparel exports reached $14.025 billion in 2022, surpassing the $11.098 billion worth of shipments in 2021.
