Chinese consumers are more conscious shoppers

10 May '17

Chinese shoppers consider sustainability to be an important factor when it comes to buying apparel, followed by Europeans and Americans.

Findings of a study revealed that 87 per cent Chinese consumers, 72 per cent European and 50 per cent American consumers are interested in buying garments made in a socially responsible way. The study was conducted by Avery Dennison Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS)

"Sustainability matters, especially in Asia and the European Union. People care not only about what the clothes are made of, but where they were made and who made them," said Rana Sidahmed, global creative director, in a discussion with Fibre2Fashion on the broader trends impacting retail branding.

She added, "This is no longer 'greenwashing,' but that the look and feel of a garment helps portray that it was made in a sustainable way."(HO)
