A visiting European Union (EU) delegation has praised the remediation efforts undertaken after the Rana Plaza building collapse in improving safety of workers serving in Bangladesh garment factories. The visit took place ahead of the May 2017 review of the Sustainability Compact, which was rolled out after the Rana Plaza building collapse.

"We found very positive development and we have seen that there are improvements in both, buildings and workplace safety since the collapse of the Rana Plaza building four years ago," Arne Lietz, head of the EU delegation was quoted as saying at a press conference by Bangladeshi media.

"The Accord and Alliance are encouraging examples of what can be achieved when companies, governments and workers pool efforts to improve standards," Lietz added. (AR)
