GVECS empowering rural women in Rajasthan's Barmer region

Rajasthan’s Gramin Vikas Evam Chetna Sanstha (GVECS) is involved in making all sorts of hand-made products like home furnishings and apparel categories, empowering thousands of rural women in the Barmer region, according to its president Ruma Devi. The production schedule generally depends on both the type of products as well as the quantity, she said.
The organisation gets needles and threads from Jaipur and Delhi, and the fabrics are mainly from South India for cotton. It also procures chanderi, maheshwari and bhagalpur silk, Devi told Fibre2Fashion in an interview.
