Ikea to create 10,000 jobs in Maharashtra over 3 years

Swedish furniture company Ikea is planning to hire 10,000 workers in Maharashtra, half directly and the rest indirectly, over the next two to three years, according to its people and culture manager for India Anna-Carin Mansson. After its first store in Hyderabad that opened in August, the company will open its next store in Navi Mumbai next year, she said.

A thousand workers will be directly hired by mid-next year and 1,500 indirectly for services, she told a news agency recently. Hal f of this recruitment will comprise women at all levels as per company policy.

Workers will be hired for e-commerce, sales, logistics, digital and human resource management, she said.

Ikea, which operates 423 stores in 50 countries, has four land sites in Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi national capital region and continues to look for more in other major Indian cities, according to the report. (DS)
