India’s Raymond is expecting around one-fifth of its textile and apparel retail business in the country to come from small towns, where it is opening ‘Mini TRS’ stores, according to retail director of the company Mohit Dhanjal. Raymond has identified around 800 small towns with a population above 50,000 for such mini stores. TRS refers to ‘The Raymond Shop’.

The company recently opened its 200th ‘Mini TRS’.

Raymond has a network of around 880 stores including Mini TRS, in which 820 are on franchise model and rest 60 are owned by the company, the Raymond Shop Channel.

The company plans to open another 100 stores in the next six months and take the total store count to 1,000 and after that for next two to three years, 100 stores will be opened every year, Dhanjal told a news agency.

The regular TRS covers over 2,500 sq feet, whereas a Mini TRS spreads over 800 sq feet. All the new stores are on the franchise model. (DS)
