Some of the global fast fashion clothing retailers are set to expand their presence in Taiwan.

Spain-based Zara is opening its first store in Taiwan on November 5 as a part of its global expansion plans. It also has plans to open one more store in Taipei this year. In June this year, Amancio Ortega, Zara's owner, had announced plans to open 120 outlets in China, and also to expand to Taiwan.

Japan-based Uniqlo has already opened five stores this year and is opening a sixth in a Taipei mall on November 25. A month earlier, Kousaka Takeshi, CEO of Uniqlo Taiwan Ltd. said that his company plans to open 30 stores each year so as to reach the figure of 100 outlets in Taiwan.

Zara and Uniqlo are among the four largest low-priced clothing retailers in the world, the other two being H&M and Gap.
