Argentina has achieved a production of 121 million apparel pieces for infants and children in 2011, which is the highest ever produced in the country during a single year, according to Victor Hugo Benyakar, President of the Argentine Chamber of Baby and Child Clothing Industry (Cámara Argentina de Indumentaria de Bebés y Niños or CAIBYN).
CAIBYN President attributed the growth, in part, to the incentive policies implemented by the Government to boost domestic production, especially the Non-Automatic Licensing System.
Speaking at the 49th Argentine Baby and Kidswear Exhibition (muestra argentina de indumentaria de bebés y niños or MABYN), Mr. Benyakar informed that the membership of CAIBYN had grown by 50 percent during the last five years.
Andrew Elgarrista, Undersecretary for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the Ministry of Industry, also emphasized that the textile sector, especially the babywear segment, has been growing in Argentina.
Several baby and kidswear manufacturers, entrepreneurs and representatives of various business chambers participated in the event.
