Two companies are set to invest in Tanzania's Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) for garment production, Dr. Adelhelm Meru, EPZA's Director General, has announced.

The companies are Pakistan-based Maptex Limited and China-based Tanzania Tooku Garments Ltd.

Dr. Meru said the investments will boost Tanzania's garment exports to other countries, while creating a good number of direct jobs.

The EPZA programme, established through the Export Processing Zones Act, 2002, aims to facilitate setting up of export-oriented united within the specified zones in Tanzania.

With the addition of two new companies as investors, the number of domestic and foreign investors under the EPZA programme will rise to 63.
