The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) had earlier provided exemption of sales tax on power and gas consumption by 330 hosiery industries under SRO 926 notification.
But, now under SRO 927 this exemption has been summarily withdrawn for 180 mills.
Knitwear exporters have voiced their displeasure and have asked for reinstatement of the SRO.
Pakistan Knitwear and Sweaters Exporters Association (PAKSEA) Chairman Kamran Chandna said that SRO 927 was discriminatory for other mills.
He sought that exemption be allowed for all 330 industries with zero rate facility for knitwear exporter.
