Kathmandu to outfit Peel Street in Tamworth

Kathmandu Holdings Limited, the listed outdoor clothing and equipment retailer, is expanding its New South Wales store network, opening a new store in Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia.

The store is located on Peel Street, in the centre of the CBD. The store will be approximately 500 m2, which will enable Kathmandu to make available its full range of outdoor gear for travel and adventure, in both winter and summer seasons.

Chief Executive, Peter Halkett said Tamworth was an ideal location for Kathmandu because of its growing population and diversity of equine and sporting activities.

“We particularly look forward to being part of the community and enjoy the annual country and music festival for which Tamworth is famous,” Mr Halkett said.

“We are pleased to be able to cater to customers in the Tamworth area. Until now the nearest Kathmandu store was 360 kilometres away in Newcastle,” Mr Halkett said.

Three full time management team members and approximately 6 casual staff members will be employed in the Tamworth store.

With the new location, Kathmandu will have a network of approximately 70 stores across Australia. Kathmandu also has stores in New Zealand and the UK.
