The twenty-first edition of Proposte opens its doors with 97 exhibitors: 52 foreigners and 45 Italians. The foreign contingent comprises: 1 Austrian, 16 Belgians, 5 Germans, 11 exhibitors from France, 5 from Great Britain, 2 from the Netherlands and 12 from Spain.

As per the regulations, this will be the collections' first showing anywhere in the world and our own team will be on the ground over the three days of the exhibition, giving their take on the trends on its website.

We're keen to point out that each of the manufacturers attending has prepared their respective products with no small measure of enthusiasm and special care, given that the seriousness of the current state of the economy is foremost in people's minds. The exhibitors here have answered the call from the exhibition organizers who this year, as part of the exhibition image, have launched what is destined to become a recurrent slogan: Always on the move, continue the journey with us!

Our inquiries have revealed that the local hotels are also fully booked as usual. So we're looking forward to seeing the final data with some confidence, aware that all the commitment and hope we've channelled into our efforts will pay off by steering us out of troubled waters and into safer havens.

With the backing of ICE-Italy's government agency for the promotion of businesses abroad and their internationalization, twenty foreign journalists from as many countries will be coming to Proposte, eager to examine the exhibition and report back their findings. All services will be laid out in the usual press review, which you can view on our website. Italian journalists will be turning out in full force, as they have been for years, and we'd like to thank them for covering the event so loyally.

Innovhub initiative

The Proposte Board has welcomed an initiative presented to us by Innovhub-SSI, namely a special agency set up by the Milan Chamber of Commerce to provide assistance to textile industries and government bodies to improve competitiveness by supporting innovation and scientific and technological development.

Innovhub is part of the Enterprise Europe Network, one of the European Commission's main instruments for helping European Small and Medium Enterprises in both EU and non-EU countries, including third-party countries such as the US, China, Korea, India, countries on the Mediterranean and the Balkans. In short, the Italian Innovhub group will put Proposte exhibitors who have signed up to the initiative into direct contact with new operators who've never made it to the show.

Artist Svetlana Kuliskova

The Central Hall, which we've endeavoured each year to deck out with a flower arrangement, art installation or other eye-catching display, this year will instead be home to the works of a renowned fibre art or art-protis artist, Svetlana Kuliskova  who has harnessed textiles as a means to portray both the past and the sentiments and expectations of the future. The artist has also worked with us on the exhibition's catalogue, providing us with images of a number of her works.
