Increased buying power in the region and changing consumer tastes good for business

Besides the organisers of country pavilions, a large number of exhibitors noticed the growth in the Southern Chinese market and the changing demands from buyers as consumers’ tastes change.

Vinayak International from India praises the fair in achieving their goal. “Exhibiting is definitely our main channel to capture Chinese market as we want to target ladies garment manufacturers in China. We are expanding with new collections of products and our business is growing. The future is bright to us.” said Suni Kumar Chhaperia, CEO of Vinayak International.

Westcott Design Ltd from the UK decided to exhibit at the fair for the first time to expand their presence in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. “There are a lot of people visiting our booth. We are quite optimistic about the market and our business expansion in Southern China,” said owner Mr Peter Westcott.

“This show definitely helps our business development in China,” claimed Mr Nasir Zahid, Manager of Reliance Weaving Mills Ltd from Pakistan. “We have found there is a lot of potential here, and have met some leading Chinese buyers from Guangdong in the last few days.”

Spanish company Luca Cuccolini spoke with a number of buyers from Guangdong and Hong Kong during the fair. “We have just started operations in China, and the business is promising. Our customers are new local fashion brands,” said the company’s China representative, Mr Jose Maria Loren. “They are very interested in our Spanish designs and products; business at the fair has been good so far.”

Sundust Co Ltd, based in Hong Kong, continues to target the Guangdong market through this fair. “We have noticed that the market here is improving compared with the last few years as Chinese consumers’ purchasing power continues to improve,” said Sales Representative, Mr Roy Huang. “People are now sourcing higher quality and more fancy products. This fair is very good and we will join again next year.”

Buyers impressed with vast range of products on offer

As exhibitors are looking to Southern China and this fair to boost sales, so too are buyers looking to benefit from the large number of textile enterprises in the region. This year, visitors from International brands attended the fair, including Aurora, ESPRIT, Hugo Boss, JL Group (Stefanel, DKNY), KappAhl, LF Sourcing, Marc O'Polo, Next Sourcing, S.Oliver and TESCO, etc.

FAD International carries out its sourcing and production in Guangzhou for overseas markets. “Our whole production process can be done locally, and this fair provides a very efficient platform to put all these things together in one place. So it is very helpful for our business,” said the designer, Ms Laura Shepherd.

“This fair is convenient for us as we can do both design and distribution in Shenzhen, and deliver the finished products to Asia from here,” said Ms Su Li Lan, another designer at Chinese company Ayeenos. “This is also a very good fair for providing a variety of products in different price ranges, and there are some new materials here every year.”
