The COSATU-affiliated Southern African Clothing & Textile Workers' Union (SACTWU) welcomes Trade & Industry Minister Rob Davies' ministerial directive to ban empowerment funding from being allocated to entities which imports finished goods.

“It is this kind of governmental decisiveness our country requires, if we are to work together to successfully combat our triple crises of poverty, inequality and unemployment”, SACTWU said.

It added, “It will help with our national quest to prevent domestic de-industrialisation. We call on all other Ministers to institute similar revolutionary initiatives in their areas of responsibility.”
