According to the February 2014 Knitwear Foreign Trade report of ICEX, Spain exported knitwear worth €265.77 million during the month of February, whereas the country’s knitwear imports during the same month totaled €447.35 million.
Imports of knitwear by Spain during the month of February 2014 registered a surge of 17.1 percent compared to the same month in 2013.
According to the ICEX data, France remained the main destination for knitwear exports from Spain, with exports amounting to €36.50 million, followed by Italy with €30.64 million, Portugal with €27.35 million, Germany with €22.43 million and the UK with €10.87 million.
The highest exports of knitwear were made from the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia with exports totaling €94.13 million, followed by Galicia with €90.90 million, Madrid with €31.49 million, Aragon with €19.76 million and Andalucía with €11.14 million.
Overall clothing exports from Spain totaled €782.8 million during the month of February 2014, registering a rise of 11.5 percent, compared to the same month in 2013.
In 2013, Spain exported textile and clothing worth €12 billion, indicating a rise of 12.4 percent year-on-year, of which exports from the garments sub-sector totaled €8.6 billion, registering a surge of 15.4 percent compared to 2012.
