Belgium is the biggest apparel accessories importer from Vietnam, as this European country has maintained its imports growth since early 2006 and accounting for over 15 percent of total, Ministry of Trade (MOT) said.
Major demand is for products including wallet, suitcase, bag, backpack and hat.
In May 2006, Vietnamese enterprises earned $6.9 million from these goods, registering month-on–month rise of 25 percent.
The figures contribute to the first five month (2006) revenue of $27.63 million, posted yearly increase of 34.5 percent.
According to MOT's statistics, exports revenue in April was $6.67 million, representing rise at 29.4 percent and 20.1 percent over March, 2006 and March, 2005 respectively.
For plastic and knitting - covered bag alone, exports revenue in April reached 1.043 million sets, worth $5.29 million, at price of $5.07 per set on average.
Meanwhile, the figures of backpack in April showed $2.03 million earning, up by 48.34 percent over March.
