During first four months this year, Vietnam's enterprises imported shoes making – fabrics worth US $84.38 million, registering a year–on–year rise of 5.97 percent.
In April 2006 alone, imports totaled upto $23.5 million, up 37.3 percent over same month, 2005.
Most of the leading suppliers belong to Asia, including China, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan and Korea.
Among those countries, imports turnover of the goods from China, Taiwan in January–April period this year saw decline in comparison with same period 2005.
Imports turnover of the goods by China and Taiwan recorded year-on–year drop of 34.8 percent and 6.7 percent, worth only $9.8 million and $32 million, respectively.
Sharp drop was also recorded in imports from Hong Kong, England and Italy for 45.4, 19.63 and 35 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the figures by Japanese suppliers showed Himalayan rise at 476 percent worth $7.1 million, due to its better fabric quality.
In the period, Korean and Thailand suppliers exported products wotrth $19.9 million and $2.38 million, featuring year–on-year rise of four percent and 66.7 percent, respectively.
