Large number of premium brands likely will see racks of Shoppers' Stop, as it enters expansion mode.

This retail leader will introduce Damas brand gold and diamond jewellery brand from Dubai at its outlets, informed Govind Shrikhande, Chief Executive Officer.

With this, the company intends to increase the number of offerings in this premium segment at its stores.

Shrikhande added that there would be equal focus on high street international brands like GANT and Nautica already on its store racks.

Both these brands are distributed in India by Arvind Brand Limited.

Retail analysts consider this move as being able to provide products at varied prices and a host of brands so as to cater to different consumer segments.

Asked about difference it would make to pricing in general, Shrikhande replied that a portion of brands would continue to be in the mid-range.

Despite new brands in the offing, average price level at the store would not go up by more than eight percent, he added.

Apart from Damas, Shoppers' Stop has recently become an exclusive licensee of Mothercare brand in India.
