Jun '06
There was huge media hype regarding RMG workers agitation demanding higher wages and other fringe benefits.

Now it has become clear that some saboteurs took the advantage of the demonstration and were purposefully involved in arson and looting of industries.

Initially Government failed to understand the gravity of the problem and talked about conspiracy.

Everybody demanded the arrest of persons responsible and the Government to properly probe these incidents.

The garment factory owners on their part must understand the workers and initiate to bring favorable solution.

Police had recently arrested one Zahid Ali known to be a political activist who was behind the series of incidents that ravaged a number of garment units surrounding Dhaka.

Zahid Ali with his associates had been extorting money from factory owners for a long time.

Ali is under police custody and the real reasons behind all violence would be revealed.
