Casual apparel & accessories maker PacSun June sales down

Pacific Sunwear of California Inc reported that total sales for the five weeks of fiscal June ending July 1, 2006 were $126.1 million, an increase of 4.6 percent over total sales of $120.6 million during the same period last year.

Total Company same store sales decreased 2.7 percent during the same period. By concept, PacSun same store sales decreased 2.0 percent and d.e.m.o. same store sales decreased 8.5 percent compared to the same five week period last year.

Total sales for the first 22 weeks of fiscal 2006 were $511.1 million, an increase of 6.2 percent over total sales of $481.2 million during the same period last year. Total Company same store sales decreased 2.1 percent during the same period. By concept, PacSun same store sales decreased 2.2 percent and d.e.m.o. same store sales decreased 1.9 percent compared to the same 22 week period last year.

Assuming a continuation of the quarter to date comp trend, the Company believes that second quarter earnings will be in the range of $0.19 to $0.21 per diluted share.

Pacific Sunwear operating under three distinct retail concepts, is a leading specialty retailer of everyday casual apparel, accessories and footwear designed to meet the needs of active teens and young adults. As of July 1, 2006, the Company operated 822 PacSun stores, 98 PacSun Outlet stores, 201 d.e.m.o. stores and 6 One Thousand Steps stores for a total of 1,127 stores in 50 states and Puerto Rico.
