Yet another hoax was uncovered involving a garment export company that claimed Rs15 crore worth of sham refunds over past three years.
Authorities did not reveal name of the firm, but stated that they have evidences that the duty invoices of Rs12 crore are forged.
Chief Commissioner, Central Excise Commissionerate, Ludhiana, VK Garg, said "As per our investigations, three manufacturing entities had been set up in the premises without independent manufacturing facilities. Even their collective manufacturing facilities are incapable of manufacturing many of the products said to be exported. Moreover, they are highly inadequate for the scale of goods shown to have been manufactured."
He also informed the media that officials found 120 accounts in different banks under different names and also cash transaction of Rs5.5 crore during a day.
