Once again shattering the antiquated notions of cruising being a passive vacation option, Royal Caribbean International announces a partnership with New Balance, a leading manufacturer of high performance athletic footwear and apparel products, onboard Freedom of the Seas when she makes her debut in May 2006.
“Through our partnership with New Balance, we are confident we are providing our guests with the best and most innovative options in the marketplace to enhance their fitness experience,” said Adam Goldstein, president of Royal Caribbean.
Royal Caribbean's partnership with New Balance will enable cruisers to get pre-boarding advice on fitness-appropriate footwear and apparel, customize their own onboard fitness programs through interactive self-service kiosks, receive stretching and hydration tips along the onboard running track, as well as participate in New Balance-created family fitness activities facilitated by Cruise Staff. New Balance will also develop running and walking routes at various ports of call along Freedom of the Seas' Western Caribbean route.
“Partnering with Royal Caribbean enables New Balance to create a unique and living integrated brand experience and offers us extensive opportunities to reach new consumers with our performance and fit messages,” says Katie Sidarweck, Marketing Promotions Associate at New Balance.
New Balance will provide special offers through Royal Caribbean's Crown & Anchor Society loyalty program and New Balance branding will be integrated into the onboard running track. Freedom's Cruise and Sports Staff will be outfitted with New Balance footwear and apparel with select New Balance products also available for sale onboard.
New Balance, headquartered in Boston, MA, is a leading manufacturer of technologically innovative width-sized performance footwear and athletic apparel for women, men, and children. The range of product categories includes running, walking, training, basketball, tennis, cleated and kids.
