The saga continues. Both workers and owners from garment industry have filed staggering 425 objections for and against the minimum wages for garment workers.
The wage board meeting ended inconclusively and is scheduled to meet again on Thursday to sort out vexed issue of minimum wages.
The wage board had announced a package of three-tier minimum wage format for readymade garment workers at Tk1604 base wage. Quite interestingly, the proposal was outrightly rejected by workers and owners.
While workers claimed that amount was too little, owners protested that it was too much for them to pay. This led to the filing of 425 objection letters to the board. A representative of garment owners informed that they need time to go through the objections.
