Trousers dominate apparel exports to Japan

During the first eight months of 2006, apparel goods exporting to Japanese market witnessed domination of trousers, as the goods made up the largest share in total exports turnover to Japan, worth US $72 million, up by 18 percent over last year period.

Ranking at the second place, traditional suits of Kimono, its exports turnover touched $63 million, posted year–on–year rise of four percent.

Besides, in the period, Vietnamese traditional long–dress started going to the Japanese market, attained average export price of $6 per set.

From statistics, in August this year, Vietnam's textile and apparel exports turnover to Japan earned $66.7 million, rose 28.3 percent from July 2006 and 10 percent from same period last year.

The figures of the first eight months 2006 showed a revenue of $409 million, registering a yearly growth of 5.2 percent.
