With the growing demand for readymade apparels and garments for past three year, imports are flooding the domestic markets.
Though knitted/crocheted apparel product import volume recorded sluggish growth-rate in September, in terms of value registered around 6.5 percent increase at US $280.2 million.
For January-October 2006 period imports reached $2.216 billion, representing a boost of 19 percent.
Meanwhile, woven garment imports during the period rose 8.6 percent to $2.5 billion with September imports at 3.3 percent growth 302.6 million.
Made-up imports achieved 2.6 percent growth in September reaching $88.8 million and by October surged 8.6 percent to $744.2 million.
