A fire broke out at 9:30 in the morning in BHT Factory situated at Naujore in Gazipur Sadar Upzila on December 8, 2006. More than 27 labourers sustained burns because of the blaze, which was initiated by an electric short circuit. It also destroyed yarn and machinery at the garment factory.
Fire fighters of Gazipur and Tongi were called immediately. They brought the fire under control by 11:00 am with co-operation from labourers.
BHT authorities are approximating total loss of Tk10 crores due to the mishap. Injured workers are being treated at Gazipur Sadar Hospital.
