The launch of the new ISC-produced jersey, which was also Waugh's first official duty as NSW captain, coincided with its appearance on the cover of the 2007 Super 14 preview edition of highly respected Rugby publication Inside Rugby, which hits newsstands.

Waugh and team mates Peter Hewat and Adam Freier modeled the 2007 Waratah jersey at the launch, the new design drawing upon 130 years of tradition with a return to Cambridge blue.

“The great Waratah teams of the past wore the Cambridge blue and it's a fitting tribute to them that we can put today's best in the same colour,” NSWRU Chief Executive Fraser Neill said.

“The new jersey is the best of both worlds, with a traditional look being coupled with high performance fabrics that will give the players the edge in competition." “Tradition and innovation have always been synonymous with the Waratahs and I'm very pleased with the end product.”

The first jersey produced under the three-year multi-million dollar deal with official player and training apparel provider ISC, the new strip is predominantly blue with navy piping on the sides and shoulders.

The unique polyester-cotton jersey is designed to move moisture away from the body and out of the garment at a rate four times that of other fabrics. The alternate strip is white with navy piping, allowing for a consistent look and feel across the season.
