Bellary Apparel Park to support garment makers

Department of Handlooms and Textiles has commenced development of Bellary Apparel Park to enable garment makers of the city to compete in local and global markets.

About six such parks were planned by the department in Karnataka for growth of readymade garment industry and one of them has already opened in Bangalore.

According to Assistant Director S S Benakal, this park will have all basic infrastructure facilities. Nearly 64 acres of land in the industrial area has been granted and 83 factories will soon be operational.

All units are allotted half acres of land at the rate of Rs5.01 lakh. Land in the park is under Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board. Each apparel unit will require investment of Rs25 lakhs.

Park will be inaugurated by Minister for Textiles and Tourism B Sriramulu, M P G Karunakara Reddy and District Incharge Minister M P Prakash at a function to be held at Nallacheru on Hospet-Bellary road. Further, foundation stone for Readymade Garment Training and Design Center will be laid.
