San Francisco based specialty retailers Gap Inc's GapMaternity offered so far only in the US, but will now launch on August 1, 2005 at 4 store locations in Canada.
To provide a seamless shopping experience, the GapMaternity line will be available within babyGap stores, where pregnant women stocking up on baby clothes can now also find items for themselves.
"They want expecting moms to enjoy great quality and comfort, without ever sacrificing personal style. They have taken great Gap styles and custom-designed them to fit perfectly throughout every stage of the pregnancy," said Jane Shaw, Director of Gap Public Relations.
GapMaternity's expert sales staff can recommend the best fits for each woman's body type during the various stages of her pregnancy, taking the guesswork out of maternity shopping. Pants and jeans come in five different belly panels and in sizes 2-14 to ensure a comfortable fit for every month.
Must-have styles feature special and unexpected details that allow moms-to-be to celebrate their individuality. GapMaternity also offers a wide selection of items that are perfect for every occasion, including transitional Starter Kit essentials, versatile work looks, the season's latest trends, and comfy activewear.
This fall, GapMaternity takes inspiration from the Gap women's line, with a selection of denim in great, elevated washes with the same details as womens jeans. Each store will carry a sampling of the season's key styles, with an emphasis on versatile classics.
Gap Inc, which is a global retailer, has about 3,000 stores and fiscal 2004 revenues of $16.3 billion.
The company operates three of the most recognized apparel brands in the world — Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy.
