Welcoming the establishment of a Textile Garments Skill Development Board (TGDB), the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said the Government's decision will boost the garment Industry.
KCCI President, Khalid Firoz and former President Siraj Kassam Teli jointly informed that the non-textile sector's exports achieved a record level of $5.842 billion.
Priasing the trade policy in foreign trade and enisting trade diplomats with substancial experience of working with multinationals and private sector organisations helped raise foreign direct investment into the country and enabled easy transfer of technology into the Pakistan, they explained.
A package of incentives and facilities envisioned in the 2005-06 Trade Policy and providing zero-rated atmosphere in five export oriented sectors would enable the industry to reach the target of $17 billion and exceed it.
Both, Firoz and Kassam urged business community members to derive major benefits from a favourable export policy and help in achieving the export target.
