Codes on garment become compulsory

09
May '07
From now on the police will supervise the process of issuing codes for garments and other tailored products, states a high-ranking official of government.

Mohammad Ali Najafi, the Iranian politician, while speaking at the one-day conference titled 'The Manifestation of Hijab' said that garment producers and importers will face legal action if their products avoid coding system.

The codes will contain information like name of the producer or importer and the registering officer.

Official statistics show that 50 percent of the garments and other tailored goods are imported in the country.

The fashion and textile industry needs state support for carving a niche in the international market. With this kind of high value-added, the industry will increase its potential for development.
