Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has sketched a roadmap for the country's industry in an attempt to make it completely competent and highly productive within three years. These guidelines are expected to be implemented in collaboration with Multi-stakeholder Forum (MFB).
Faisal Samad, Second Vice-President, BGMEA, said, “We have started our work and some steps have already been taken to make the garment owners aware of the urgency of being compliant.” He also informed that the roadmap had already been distributed among the sector.
President Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez said, "Under the MFB roadmap, we will make a drive so that the RMG units become compliant step by step in a span of three years. We hope we can make maximum units compliant within this stipulated time."
MFB, the Bangladesh branch of UK-based MFA Forum, comprises of international organization comprised of the buyers' representatives, stockholders, trade unions and NGOs and has vowed to work for the local garment industry.
