Bangladeshi knit apparel exporters are all set to showcase their products especially for the US buyers in November.
This will be the first ever effort by Bangladeshi Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) to organize a single country fair for the knitwear items.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) officials informed that the country exported knitwear products worth nearly $300 million to the US in fiscal 2004-05.
Knitwear exporters expect that the three-day fair during November 14-16, 2005 at Hotel Pennsylvania in New York, would attract the attention of the US knitwear importers.
The BKMEA Director opined that they anticipate receiving export orders worth minimum $10 million through the fair.
BKMEA official explained that the South Asian Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF), a multi-donor unit run by International Finance Cooperation of the World Bank has already approached the concerned US authorities and finalized the date and venue.
SEDF, under an agreement with BKMEA, will also hire a US consultant firm to smooth the progress of holding of the fair.
About 45 Bangladeshi factories will take part in the fair and a 10-member delegation representing the BKMEA will make presentation simulteneously to study market of Bangladeshi products through talks with the US knitwear importers.
