In cooperation with the Industry Forum in the U.K., the International Apparel Federation (IAF) is organizing the first IAF Regional Seminar, which will be held on Wednesday June 13th, 2007 at the British Clothing Industry Association (BCIA) in London. The focus of this seminar is a topic that is much discussed and in the spotlight at the moment: “Green and Ethical Fashion, meeting increased customer demand”.

The intention of this IAF / Industry Forum Regional Seminar is to dispense knowledge and experience to businesses that realize that they have to adapt in an ever-changing world and take on greener and fairer policies in order to obtain a competitive edge. The workshop includes benefiting from the experience of leading retailers, brands and practitioners; gaining insight into how others have succeeded and debating the way forward.

A panel of speakers including Gabriel Llaguno representing Nike, Chris McCann from Walmart, Steve Jesseph on behalf of WRAP and Justin Huang from the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) have approached the key issues of this topic in different manners but are now driving their solutions to the heart of their business.

Is the fashion and retail community keeping up with Green and Fairtrade? Is it involved in the debate? And is it helping shape policy? These are a selection of focal points that will be discussed at the seminar.

Guest speakers will take a stand on how businesses have responded to consumer demand to make itself a benchmark for Fairtrade and how ethical practices have been implemented in a worldwide supply base. The seminar will close with a question and answer session, with a panel of guests from leading apparel organizations.
